Anti-Negrophilia against African Americans manifests itself in a number of ways within America’s police forces.

Examples of

Police Brutality

Excessive Force

African Americans are more likely to be subjected to excessive force by police, such as the use of pepper spray, tasers, or deadly force. This can result in injury or death, and has led to widespread protests and calls for reform. According to a report from the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, an African American is killed by a police officer, security guard, or vigilante almost every 28 hours.

Discriminatory Policing Practices

Some police departments have been found to engage in discriminatory practices, such as discriminatory enforcement of minor offenses and selective enforcement of drug laws, leading to higher rates of arrest and incarceration for African Americans.

Implicit Bias

Many police officers hold implicit biases against African Americans, which influence their decision-making and actions. This leads to discriminatory treatment and a lack of trust between police and African American communities.

Lack of Diversity

Many police departments do not reflect the racial diversity of the communities they serve, which can contribute to a lack of understanding and cultural competence.

Policing the Police Force

These forms of Anti-Negrophilia within America’s police forces have devastating consequences for African Americans and undermine public trust in the criminal justice system. Addressing these issues requires ongoing efforts to promote diversity, accountability, and transparency within police departments, as well as reforms to policing practices and the criminal justice system as a whole.
